Tabb’s Strong Finish Earns Victory at 41st Annual Freihofer’s Run for Women 5k

Three-Time Olympian Rhines Wins Third Consecutive Masters Title ALBANY, N.Y. (June 1, 2019) – Elaina Tabb of Watertown, Mass. grabbed the lead in the final kilometer and then held off her nearest challenger to capture the 41st Freihofer’s Run for Women 5K with a time of 16 minutes, 3 seconds. The 27-year-old paced a field of 3,445 participants on a picturesque Saturday morning in downtown Albany, N.Y. With the victory, Tabb earned a $10,000 prize in her first time competing in the prestigious annual women’s road race. “It was awesome,” said Tabb, of the Boston Athletic Association’s High Performance Team. “I had such a great weekend. Just seeing the city come out for this race was really fun, exciting and brought a lot of good energy.” Tabb finished three seconds ahead of Diane Nukuri, a three-time Olympian who placed third here in 2018. Maddie Van Beek, a 27-year-old from Fargo, N.D., was third in 16:09. (Wednesday, May 29, 2019) – Officials at the Freihofer’s Run for Women, one of the nation’s most prestigious all-women road races, announce a few reminders to individuals who will be taking part in the 41st running of the event on Saturday, June 1 at 9 a.m. Registration for Events: Although online registration is now closed at freihofersun.com, women can still sign up for the 5K, Junior 3K and Kids’ Run in person at the Health & Fitness Expo Thursday, May 31 from 4-8 p.m. and Friday, June 1 from noon to 7 p.m. at The Armory at Sage College of Albany located at 130 New Scotland Ave., Albany, 12208. (May 14, 2019) — Two local charities with women-focused missions will receive checks totaling $10,000 from the 41st annual Freihofer’s Run for Women event registration fees. Girls Inc. of the Great Capital Region aims to inspire all girls to be strong, smart and bold. The organization, which has offices in Albany and Schenectady, serves more than 1,000 girls annually through its award-winning, research-based programs, which are offered through after-school programs, school vacation week programs, Summer Fun Camps, Eureka!, and other outreach programs. “Girls have the right to accept and appreciate their bodies and are entitled to thrive in communities that invest in their total physical, mental, and emotional wellness. Freihofer’s Run for Women Announces Ambassador Program

12 Women Chosen to Represent Race at Community Events, Regional runs, and on Social Media ALBANY, N.Y. (March 27, 2019) — Officials at the Freihofer’s® Run for Women today announced the launch of the event’s Ambassador Program, an initiative designed to encourage more women to get involved in one of the nation’s most prestigious all-women’s road races. “As we head to the 41st Freihofer's Run for Women, thousands of women have experienced the empowerment, joy, sisterhood and fun of the Freihofer’s Run for Women,” said FRW Co-Director Kristen Hislop. “But we know we can touch more lives, so we decided to introduce the Freihofer's Run for Women Ambassador Team.” The application process began in March and an outstanding group of women applied. Pagano’s Closing Kick Earns Her Victory at 40th Freihofer’s Run for Women 5k

Syracuse Native, Three-Time Olympian Rhines repeats as Event’s Masters Champion ALBANY, N.Y. (June 2, 2018) – Sarah Pagano of Brighton, Mass., surged to the lead in the final 400 meters and won the 40th annual Freihofer’s Run for Women with a time of 15 minutes, 48 seconds. The 26 -year-old was the first of 3,567 participants to complete the 5K course on a breezy, overcast morning in downtown Albany, N.Y. She earned a $10,000 prize and matched her personal 5K record. “I’m really happy,” said Pagano, who runs for the Boston Athletic Association. “I came in and just wanted to compete and not worry about anything else, just do the best I could. I’m really happy to be able to come away with the win.” Pagano, who ran track at Syracuse University and was the 2012 Big East outdoor 10,000m champion, was five seconds ahead of runner-up Steph Bruce (Flagstaff, Ariz.). Keiffer Makes Racing Return at Freihofer’s Run for Women

(01-Jun) -- Allie Kieffer had hoped to run 2:33 at last November's TCS New York City Marathon, an ambitious goal which would have been more than an 11-minute personal best. Staying in control, the 30 year-old athlete stuck with her race plan, hitting halfway in 1:16:39, 20 seconds behind the lead pack. At that point she checked herself and realized that she had a lot left in the tank. She could pick it up, she thought, and maybe catch a few people. "I think I went halfway through right on target," Kieffer said in an interview with Race Results Weekly here today. "I was a little bit off the main pack, and I just started reeling them in after halfway. I remember thinking to myself, 'why is everybody running so slow.?'"
